To crop or not to crop!

While cropping is a personal preference it is also rooted in some health concerns.
Dobermans are born with long floppy ears. This can cause some issues. Namely yeast infection inside the ears and injury to the part that hangs. This can be avoided by keeping the ears dry and clean. And limiting where the dog runs. Thorny bushes sticks and fences can cause tears to the ears if the dog gets too close.
Cropped ears are what gives the Doberman their signature look and many love this about the breed.
Does cropping hurt? The first day yes there is some pain we treat with a topical pain reliever. Day 2 puppies are playing and are no longer in pain the ears are taped to a cup to keep them upright so the healing process can begin.

Brad and Darsey are both veterans of our Armed Services. We love our veterans! Absolute K9s offers military, veterans, police, and EMS a discount on puppies and training services.

Health Testing

We take the health of our dogs very seriously. We do our absolute best to breed the healthiest dogs we can. Unfortunately, Dobermans have been the victim of poor breeding practices over the years which has led to some health issues. Some of These issues include: dilated cardiomyopathy, von Willebrand's Disease, Wobblers Syndrome, hip dysplasia, gastric torsion, and cancer.  We  are  lucky  enough  to  have  DNA testing through Embark Vet so we can test for a lot of these issues! What we can’t test for, we can learn about and predict through studying pedigrees and keeping track of what’s going on with our litters as they grow up! We participate in several studies dedicated to helping the doberman breed.

Pricing

Puppies are priced based on several factors. These include, but are not limited to, crop style, vetting, DNA/Health testing, work ability of pup, show potential, pedigree, and pick of the litter. Puppies from the same litter may have varying prices.

Our puppies range in price from $2500  to $7,500. We do our deposits a little bit differently than most breeders. We have a $1,000 deposit to hold your pup. A second payment is due at 4 weeks of age, and final payment is due at time of crop.

If you would like an all-natural puppy (no crop, no dock) final payment is due before the pup reaches the age of 3 days old. Special crops are also subject to this policy but will be determined on a case by case basis.

Deposits are transferrable to our other litters. We cannot guarantee that a particular female will have the color/gender combination you are looking for.
